The Corner

This project is dedicated to the Corner of my room, the one I look at every evening. I assembled it from things that define my daily space: books, my own ceramics, images, small objects, records, and candles. This place reflects my tastes, interests, and way of arranging the environment around me. Before the project began, the Corner already existed as an art object in time, assembled by me and shaped through my choices and habits.

Over seven days, I photograph the Corner, each time adding the previous photograph back into it. In this way, its own image begins to appear within the space. Each new frame contains a trace of the previous one, and the Corner gradually accumulates a history of its own existence.

Through this gesture, I give the space memory. The Corner begins to contain its own history and, in a conditional sense, to “observe” itself through its images. Because of this, it stops being only a reflection of my aesthetic and starts to be perceived as a space that has its own memory, and through that memory approaches an image of subjectivity.
